Indian weddings are elaborate and held in certain months of the year. The planning and preparation are done much in advance. For each hotel there is peak time annually and the negotiation may not bring about best results in such seasons. The time of the year is an important influencer. Resorts may not make concessions if you wish to fix summer or spring booking.  Holiday weekends are brisk seasons and cost structure may not change. The cost structure negotiation will make a minor difference. Hotel rooms tariff will be at its maximum. Business hotels are busy over the weekdays and you may enjoy good concessional tariff plan for the weekend. The décor of the hotel may be subdued for a wedding, but you may book all the same. However, some clients prefer décor to venue. Country club, historical homes, farms, palaces, public gardens are also popular as wedding destination.  They have the infrastructure to hold weddings. Outside vendors may be engaged for catering or décor.

Banquet halls are there on several locations of the city, but golf club may be one or two in a city. Golf clubs organize weekend events for the members; moreover, members may object to wedding ceremonies during certain hours. If wedding date falls on a public holiday the employees called by the venue head will pay extra for coming. That way your budget may get shaky.  A venue is booked once the money is paid. When the venue is holding the place for you and you delay booking it may be passed to someone else. The same is true about vendors.  Thus, variation in venue is related to cost and ambience and if you wish lavish event would keep all the factors in mind.

The supply and demand keep the cost in check. It helps in getting the venue at short notice. The on peak and off-peak season gives the right choice of the venue. Competition in the market lowers the price. You have more negotiation power then. Extreme of temperature makes those months off-season.  In Indian weddings a big portion of the money is used in booking the venue with vendors. This includes baraat, ceremony of wedding, meals, beverages, cocktail, and reception.  In case sangeet ceremony is also included and additional food like breakfast the cost will go up. Tables, chairs linen are also included in the cost structure.

How much advance is the venue booked? Venues in many cases do not book for more than a year. This is because they optimize its revenue through choice of corporate business or bigger events.  Keep in mind the booking window rules.  It is true that shorter the booking time the better is the negotiation power. Ocean and waterfront venues are booking is done keeping the season in mind. In popular season negotiation is not done at its best.
